Review: Oz the Great and Powerful (2013)

(77) This Oz lacks the energy of the original classic. And… it’s less brazen than most of Raimi’s work. Yet even the Kansas opening offers glints of what awaits and, after a laborious reintroduction to Oz, the film thankfully plucks up its energy. Once rolling, Great and Powerful is a carnival tour of old friends and new magic. Kunis wears her “wicked” green skin better than that of the gullible romantic and Williams is absolutely loveable as Glinda.
